Why Choose Campania for Your Wedding Venue
Campania is one of Italy’s most distinctive wedding destinations, combining dramatic coastlines, historic towns, elegant villas, Mediterranean gardens, and countryside estates within a relatively compact region. For couples planning a destination wedding, it offers a strong sense of place: sea views, warm southern Italian hospitality, excellent food, and iconic locations such as the Amalfi Coast, Capri, Sorrento, Naples, and the Cilento coast.
Choosing a wedding venue in Campania also gives you flexibility. You can plan a refined villa wedding overlooking the sea, a romantic celebration in a historic palazzo, a relaxed countryside reception, or an intimate event in a boutique hotel with panoramic terraces. The region works especially well for couples who want their wedding to feel both elegant and deeply connected to the local landscape.
Campania is also a practical choice for international guests. Naples has a major airport, many of the most popular wedding areas are well connected, and the region offers a wide range of accommodation options, from luxury hotels to private villas and guesthouses. This makes it easier to turn the wedding into a full travel experience for your guests, with time to enjoy the coast, the islands, the food, and the culture before or after the event.

Best Areas in Campania for a Destination Wedding
Campania offers several very different wedding areas, each with its own atmosphere, logistics, and venue style. Choosing the right location is one of the most important decisions, because it will shape not only the look of your wedding but also the experience your guests will have before and after the celebration.
Amalfi Coast
The Amalfi Coast is the most iconic wedding area in Campania, known for its sea views, cliffside towns, panoramic terraces, luxury hotels, and elegant villas. Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, and nearby coastal villages are ideal for couples who want a refined Mediterranean setting with a strong visual impact. Venues here are especially suited to symbolic ceremonies, intimate weddings, scenic receptions, and multi-day celebrations.
Sorrento and the Sorrentine Peninsula
Sorrento is a practical and beautiful choice for a destination wedding in Campania. It combines sea views, historic venues, hotels, gardens, and easier logistics than some smaller coastal towns. It is well connected to Naples, Capri, Pompeii, and the Amalfi Coast, making it a strong option for couples who want a scenic wedding base with good access for guests.
Capri and Ischia
Capri and Ischia are ideal for couples looking for an island wedding with a distinctive Italian atmosphere. Capri is elegant, exclusive, and visually striking, with dramatic views and high-end hospitality. Ischia offers a more relaxed island feel, with gardens, thermal resorts, sea-view hotels, and a wider range of venue styles. Both islands work best when guest travel and accommodation are planned carefully in advance.
Naples
Naples is a strong choice for couples who want history, architecture, food, culture, and excellent transport connections. Wedding venues in and around the city can include historic palaces, rooftop spaces, luxury hotels, villas, and seaside locations with views of the Gulf of Naples. It is also one of the most convenient areas for international guests arriving by air or train.
Cilento Coast
The Cilento Coast is a great option for couples who want a more peaceful and authentic coastal wedding in Campania. Compared with the Amalfi Coast, it generally feels less crowded and more understated, with seaside venues, countryside estates, agriturismi, and charming towns. It is particularly suitable for couples who value natural landscapes, local food, and a slower pace.
Caserta and Inland Campania
Inland Campania offers elegant estates, historic villas, countryside venues, and refined settings away from the busiest coastal areas. The area around Caserta can be especially interesting for couples looking for spacious venues, classic architecture, gardens, and easier access from Naples. It can also be a practical choice for larger weddings or celebrations where guest comfort and logistics are priorities.

Types of Wedding Venues You Can Find in Campania
Campania offers a wide range of wedding venues, from iconic sea-view locations to historic estates and countryside retreats. The best choice depends on your guest count, preferred atmosphere, budget, ceremony style, and how much of the wedding experience you want to host in one place.
Sea-View Villas and Panoramic Terraces
Sea-view villas and panoramic terraces are among the most requested wedding venues in Campania, especially along the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Capri, Ischia, and the Gulf of Naples. They are ideal for couples who want a strong visual setting, open-air aperitifs, sunset receptions, and photos with the Mediterranean as a backdrop.
Luxury Hotels and Boutique Hotels
Hotels are a practical and elegant choice for destination weddings, particularly when guests are traveling from abroad. Many luxury and boutique hotels in Campania offer ceremony spaces, reception areas, catering, accommodation, and coordination support in the same location. This can simplify logistics, especially in coastal towns where transport and parking require careful planning.
Historic Villas and Palazzi
Historic villas and palazzi are well suited to couples looking for architecture, atmosphere, and a refined Italian setting. In Campania, these venues can be found in Naples, Sorrento, the islands, inland areas, and around Caserta. They often include formal rooms, courtyards, gardens, terraces, and reception spaces with a strong sense of history.
Garden Venues and Mediterranean Estates
Garden venues are a natural fit for weddings in Campania, where lemon trees, olive groves, bougainvillea, sea breezes, and Mediterranean planting can become part of the event design. These venues work especially well for symbolic ceremonies, outdoor dinners, relaxed aperitifs, and weddings with a warm, elegant, and informal atmosphere.
Countryside Estates and Agriturismi
Couples who want a quieter setting may prefer countryside estates or agriturismi in inland Campania, Cilento, or rural areas near the coast. These venues are often more spacious and relaxed than coastal locations, with a stronger focus on local food, wine, natural surroundings, and extended celebrations with family and friends.
Coastal Restaurants and Beachside Venues
Coastal restaurants and beachside venues can be a good option for couples planning a smaller or more informal wedding. They are especially suitable for welcome dinners, rehearsal dinners, symbolic ceremonies, and receptions centered around seafood, sea views, and a relaxed Mediterranean experience. It is important to check exclusivity, music rules, weather plans, and access for guests.

How to Choose the Right Wedding Venue in Campania
Choosing a wedding venue in Campania starts with understanding the type of experience you want to create. A sea-view terrace on the Amalfi Coast will feel very different from a historic villa near Naples, an island hotel in Capri or Ischia, or a countryside estate in Cilento. Before comparing prices, define the atmosphere, guest count, ceremony style, and level of privacy you need.
Consider the Location Carefully
Campania is compact, but travel times can vary significantly depending on the area, season, and road conditions. Coastal towns such as Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello are visually exceptional, but they require more attention to transport, parking, luggage handling, and guest movement. Sorrento, Naples, Caserta, and some inland areas can be easier for larger groups or guests arriving from abroad.
Match the Venue to Your Guest Count
A venue should feel comfortable, not just large enough on paper. Ask how many guests can be seated for dinner, how many can be hosted for a ceremony, and whether the venue has separate spaces for the ceremony, aperitif, dinner, dancing, and bad-weather backup. This is especially important for panoramic terraces, historic buildings, and boutique hotels, where spaces may be beautiful but limited.
Check What Is Included
When comparing wedding venues in Campania, look beyond the rental fee. Some venues include catering, tables, chairs, basic setup, coordination, accommodation, or exclusive use, while others charge separately for many services. Ask for a clear breakdown of what is included, what is optional, and which suppliers are mandatory or recommended.
Ask About Ceremony Options
Not every venue can host every type of ceremony. Some locations are suitable for symbolic ceremonies only, while others may be close to town halls, churches, or authorized civil ceremony locations. If you are planning a legal, religious, or symbolic wedding, clarify the ceremony options before confirming the venue.
Think About Guest Accommodation and Transport
For destination weddings, the venue is only one part of the guest experience. Check whether guests can stay on site, nearby, or in the same town, and consider how they will move between hotels, ceremony locations, and the reception. In coastal areas and on the islands, private transfers, boats, minibuses, or taxis may need to be arranged well in advance.
Review Music, Timing, and Noise Rules
Music restrictions are important in many wedding venues in Campania, especially in coastal towns, historic properties, hotels, and venues near residential areas. Ask until what time live music or a DJ is allowed, whether dancing can continue indoors, and whether there are volume limits. These details can strongly influence the structure of the evening.
Evaluate the Backup Plan
Outdoor weddings are one of the main attractions of Campania, but a reliable weather plan is essential. Ask what happens in case of rain, wind, extreme heat, or unexpected changes. The backup space should feel appropriate for your guest count and wedding style, not like a last-minute compromise.

How Much Does a Wedding Venue in Campania Cost?
The cost of a wedding venue in Campania can vary widely depending on the area, season, guest count, exclusivity, catering, accommodation, and the level of service included. As a general rule, wedding venues on the Amalfi Coast, in Capri, Sorrento, and other highly requested coastal locations tend to be more expensive than countryside estates, inland villas, and less tourist-heavy areas.
For a wedding venue in Campania, couples should usually expect catering to start from around €150–€300 per person, with premium venues and luxury coastal properties often going higher depending on the menu, bar service, setup, and event format. Some venues publish menu prices from around €165 per person, while luxury properties may list catering from about €300 per person, with drinks charged separately.
Venue rental fees can also change significantly. A refined villa or exclusive-use property in a premium coastal area may start from around €15,000–€35,000, while some high-end Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, or Capri weddings can require venue and ceremony budgets in the €25,000–€50,000 range before adding full catering, flowers, music, photography, planning, and guest events.
For smaller weddings, symbolic ceremonies, restaurant receptions, boutique hotels, or venues outside the most famous coastal towns, the total venue-related cost may be more accessible. However, couples should always ask what is included in the quoted price: venue hire, catering, drinks, staff, tables, chairs, basic setup, VAT, service charges, accommodation requirements, and any mandatory suppliers.
As a practical starting point, couples planning a destination wedding in Campania should request a detailed quote from each venue rather than comparing only the starting price. A venue with a higher rental fee may include more services, while a lower starting price may require additional costs for catering, rentals, transport, late-night music, lighting, or backup spaces.

Guest Experience, Travel, and Accommodation
For a destination wedding in Campania, the guest experience should be considered from the beginning. The region offers exceptional scenery, food, culture, and hospitality, but each area has different logistics. A wedding in Naples or Caserta will usually be easier to reach, while coastal towns, islands, and hilltop locations may require more detailed transport planning.
Arrival and Local Travel
Naples International Airport is the main arrival point for most international guests traveling to Campania. From there, guests can reach Naples, Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast, Caserta, Cilento, Capri, and Ischia by train, private transfer, ferry, hydrofoil, or car, depending on the destination. For weddings in Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, Capri, or Ischia, it is especially important to give guests clear travel instructions in advance.
Accommodation for Guests
Accommodation should match both the location and the type of wedding you are planning. Luxury hotels and boutique hotels can be ideal for coastal weddings, while villas, guesthouses, agriturismi, and countryside estates may work better for relaxed multi-day celebrations. If the venue does not offer enough rooms on site, choose an area with several nearby accommodation options so guests can stay within a reasonable distance.
Transport on the Wedding Day
Guest transport is particularly important in Campania’s coastal and island destinations. Narrow roads, limited parking, ferry schedules, summer traffic, and restricted-access areas can affect timing. For this reason, many couples arrange private buses, minivans, taxis, boats, or coordinated transfers between hotels, ceremony locations, and the reception venue. This helps guests enjoy the day without having to manage local logistics themselves.
Creating a Full Destination Wedding Experience
Campania is well suited to weddings that extend beyond a single event. Couples can organize welcome dinners, boat trips, wine tastings, pizza experiences in Naples, visits to Pompeii or Herculaneum, beach days, island excursions, or relaxed post-wedding lunches. These experiences can make the celebration feel more complete and give guests a deeper connection to the region.
Seasonal Considerations
Spring, early summer, and early autumn are often the most comfortable periods for weddings in Campania, with pleasant weather and strong outdoor potential. July and August can be beautiful but also hot, busy, and more demanding logistically, especially on the Amalfi Coast, in Sorrento, Capri, and Ischia. When choosing your date, consider not only the venue but also guest comfort, accommodation availability, and local travel conditions.

When to Book Your Wedding Venue in Campania
For a destination wedding in Campania, it is best to start your venue search early, especially if you are considering the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Capri, Ischia, Naples, or a highly requested villa with sea views. The most desirable dates, venues, and accommodation options can be booked well in advance, particularly for late spring, summer, and early autumn weddings.
As a general guideline, couples should try to book their wedding venue in Campania around 12 to 18 months before the wedding date. For luxury venues, exclusive-use properties, weekend dates, and peak-season celebrations, starting 18 to 24 months in advance can give you a stronger choice of locations and better time to organize travel, guest accommodation, and key suppliers.
If you are planning a smaller wedding, an elopement, a weekday celebration, or a date outside the busiest months, you may find good options with a shorter planning timeline. However, Campania is a popular destination wedding region, and availability can still be limited in areas such as Positano, Ravello, Amalfi, Sorrento, Capri, and Ischia.
Once you find a venue that fits your guest count, budget, style, and logistics, ask for a clear written proposal before confirming. Check the payment schedule, cancellation terms, included services, supplier rules, music limits, backup plan, and accommodation requirements. Booking early is useful, but the most important step is choosing a venue that matches both your wedding vision and the practical needs of your guests.
FAQs About Wedding Venues in Campania
Planning a destination wedding in Campania often raises practical questions about locations, costs, guest travel, ceremony options, and venue logistics. These FAQs cover the key points couples should consider before choosing their wedding venue in the region.
What are the best areas in Campania for a destination wedding?
The most popular areas include the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Capri, Ischia, Naples, Caserta, and the Cilento Coast. The Amalfi Coast and Capri are ideal for iconic sea views and luxury venues, while Sorrento offers a strong balance of scenery and logistics. Naples and Caserta are practical for guests, and Cilento is a good choice for couples looking for a quieter coastal or countryside atmosphere.
Is Campania a good region for a destination wedding in Italy?
Yes. Campania is one of the strongest regions in Italy for destination weddings because it combines famous coastal scenery, historic towns, excellent food, islands, villas, luxury hotels, and countryside venues. It is especially suitable for couples who want their wedding to feel connected to the Mediterranean landscape and southern Italian culture.
How much does a wedding venue in Campania usually cost?
Costs vary widely depending on the area, season, guest count, and services included. Coastal venues in the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Capri, and Ischia are usually more expensive than inland estates or countryside venues. As a broad starting point, catering may begin around €150–€300 per person, while exclusive-use villas and luxury sea-view venues can require significantly higher budgets.
Are wedding venues on the Amalfi Coast more expensive than other areas of Campania?
In most cases, yes. The Amalfi Coast is one of the most requested wedding destinations in Italy, and prices often reflect its popularity, limited space, panoramic locations, and high demand during peak season. Couples looking for a similar Campania atmosphere with different logistics or budget levels may also consider Sorrento, Ischia, Cilento, Naples, or inland villas.
Can foreign couples legally get married in Campania?
Yes, foreign couples can legally marry in Campania, but the requirements depend on nationality, residency status, religion, and the type of ceremony. Some couples choose a legal civil or religious ceremony in Italy, while others complete the legal paperwork at home and have a symbolic ceremony at their venue in Campania. It is important to confirm the process well in advance.
Do wedding venues in Campania usually offer accommodation?
Some venues offer accommodation on site, especially hotels, villas, resorts, countryside estates, and agriturismi. Others provide only event spaces, so guests stay in nearby hotels, guesthouses, apartments, or villas. For destination weddings, it is important to check accommodation capacity early, especially in coastal towns and islands where availability can be limited in high season.
When is the best time of year to get married in Campania?
Spring, early summer, and early autumn are usually the most comfortable periods for a wedding in Campania. May, June, September, and early October often offer pleasant weather and strong outdoor potential. July and August can also be beautiful, but they are hotter, busier, and more demanding for guest travel, especially on the coast and islands.
How far in advance should we book a wedding venue in Campania?
For popular areas such as the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Capri, Ischia, and luxury villas near Naples or Caserta, it is advisable to start 12 to 18 months in advance. For peak-season weekends, exclusive-use venues, or very popular properties, 18 to 24 months can be a better timeline. Smaller weddings, weekday dates, and off-season celebrations may allow more flexibility.
What should we ask before booking a wedding venue in Campania?
Ask what is included in the price, whether catering is mandatory, how many guests can be hosted comfortably, what the backup plan is for bad weather, how late music is allowed, and whether there are supplier restrictions. You should also clarify transport, parking, accommodation options, payment terms, VAT, service charges, and any extra costs for setup, lighting, or overtime.
Is Campania suitable for small weddings and elopements?
Yes. Campania is very suitable for intimate weddings and elopements, especially in sea-view villas, boutique hotels, panoramic terraces, gardens, historic buildings, and coastal restaurants. Smaller guest counts can also make logistics easier in places such as Positano, Ravello, Capri, Ischia, and Sorrento, where space and transport require careful planning.

Our wedding was perfect in every single way
I don’t even know where to start. Our wedding was perfect in every single way and it’s because of Castello Visconteo and their amazing staff and venue. We live in SC, USA and planned a destination wedding. We took a risk planning everything overseas without seeing anything in person until the day of the wedding and I’m SO glad we took the risk. We had 100 guests who said it was the most beautiful and well planned wedding they had ever attended. My husband is in the wedding industry in the USA and he even said he has never seen a wedding run so smoothly and perfectly. Their prices are fantastic. Their venue is one of the most gorgeous options available for the price in the world (trust me I looked at them all). Please purchase the fireworks THEY WILL NOT DISAPPOINT. Thank you Castello Visconteo for giving me the best day of my life. There’s nothing you could have done better. The setup, the vendors, the food, the schedule, the accommodations, everything was PERFECT. I’ve never heard a bride have 0 complaints about her wedding day but I really have no regrets or complaints because Camilla made sure everything was perfect for us. 100/10

We had the most incredible celebration
We celebrated our wedding in Castello della Castelluccia in October 2023 with over 120 of our friends and family. The food, service, venue and atmosphere were second to none. Myriam gave us lots of tips for how best to make the most of the venue for our wedding, and her team were always on hand to ensure everything went smoothly. We had the most incredible celebration and would highly recommend Castello della Castelluccia to any other couples.

Wow, wow, wow!
Wow, wow, wow! Last September we had the joy of celebrating our wedding here with our family and friends – what a blessing!
The location is breathtakingly beautiful and perfectly maintained. All the rooms are stylishly decorated, and it really feels like coming home. The relaxed, warm atmosphere makes everyone feel welcome right away.
The food was absolutely fantastic! You can taste the care and love that goes into every meal. It was so nice to hear that they mainly use local products and grow their own vegetables and herbs. The local wines served were also delicious – every meal felt like a culinary celebration!
We can’t wait to return to Borgo – this place has stolen our hearts, and we recommend it without a doubt, 1000%!

All our guests stayed at this villa
We had our wedding reception at Tenuta di Papena. All our guests stayed at this villa in the days before and after the wedding as well. It is a gorgeous setting, beautiful views of the tuscan countryside. The pool area is lovely, a nice area for guests to relax with a drink during cocktail hour. They were very flexible with our reception plans, offering a variety of rooms and outdoor areas for the reception.
The apartments were a good size and well stocked with all the required kitchen/cooking utensils for a large breakfast feast made by our guests the morning after the wedding. The outdoor patio area was used as a large dance area during the reception and a gathering/dinning area during the rest of the visit.
